The Japanese company Suzuki is known initially for the motorcycles they produce. In recent years though, the company is fast becoming known as a serious competitor in the global auto industry. One of the most recent additions to its lineup is the redesigned Suzuki XL7. The crossover was redesigned completely that even the vehicle’s name underwent a facelift. Previously known as the Suzuki XL-7, it is now known simply as the Suzuki XL7.

The redesigned crossover was made bigger than its predecessor. According to Suzuki, the XL7 is 9.8 inches longer than is predecessor. This increase in length means that legroom inside the vehicle is significantly increased. Its three rows of seating can adequately accommodate up to seven people. Its second row of seats can hold up to three passengers and the rearmost seat is designed to be occupied by two persons.

The construction of the XL7 and its predecessor is also different. The previous XL-7 was built around a platform which it shared with the Suzuki Grand Vitara. The body-on-frame truck-based platform is replaced by a unibody construction. The new XL7 comes with an independent front suspension – something that its predecessor lacks.

Another improvement that Suzuki made with the crossover is to improve the engine under its hood. The old crossover was equipped with a 2.7-liter V6 engine. That V6 engine can only produce 185 horsepower which pales in comparison to the new XL7’s engine. The new engine is a 3.6-liter V6 engine with an output of 252 horsepower.

The XL7 is offered in three trim levels – the Base, Luxury and the Limited variants. While the XL7 can seat up to seven passengers, Suzuki also offers a five-seater XL7. The new XL7 was designed for American car buyers, evident in the way that space inside the cabin is increased. With Suzuki’s collaboration with General Motors, it comes as no surprise that Suzuki would come out with a car tailor made for Americans.

The base model of the XL7 offers a lot of features unlike base models offered by many car manufacturers which are stripped down versions of the real car. The top-of the-line Limited is loaded with features for passenger convenience and comfort that it can almost compete with entry-level luxury crossover SUVs.

The exterior of the XL7 is fresh which means that Suzuki can use the design concept used in the XL7 to be used on their other vehicles. This would give them the distinction that they surely want for their vehicles. The exterior of the vehicle posses clean lines and a bulky look. This is because the edges of the vehicle were rounded off. Using aftermarket parts like Pacesetter exhausts can enhance the good looks of the crossover.

Safety features for the XL7 includes a safety cage built into the vehicle’s frame. The construction of the safety cage absorbs the energy created by the impact on collisions but at the same time protects the passenger and driver inside the vehicle. A four-wheel anti-lock brake system is also a feature of the Suzuki XL7. This safety feature is complemented by an electronic stability program. Interestingly, the ESP was taken from Daimler Benz by Suzuki.

The Suzuki Motor Corporation was first known in the industry of transportation for its classic motorcycles and bikes. And because of this, the company has targeted using these very popular means of transportation for the launch of the company’s cars and vehicles.

This week, the company would be launching commercials and advertisements that are actually marketing and selling Suzuki vehicles that have been scheduled to be launch this fall. The list of Suzuki cars and vehicles include the Suzuki XL7 crossover, the Grand Vitara sport utility vehicle, and the Suzuki SX4 crossover. And when you do get to view these four commercial ads on the new Suzuki autos in their entire Suzuki auto parts glamour, you would find that in between, there are also quick glimpses of the company’s motorcycle heritage. These ads last for thirty seconds.

It was Colby and Partners of Brea, California who is the brain behind such a campaign. And this organization does claim that they have much the Suzuki campaign as such as to be able to help the company gain more income by using the much popular, better trusted, and highly esteemed Suzuki motorcycle range as the base and foundation. They do believe that by doing such, customers would be able to familiarize themselves with the products and with the kind of quality that the Suzuki motorbikes held. The organization does further believe that their campaign tactic would make the customers believe that the motorcycles and the vehicles all are the best in the industry.

Four commercial campaigns have been produced by Colby and Partners and each last for thirty seconds. One campaign has been given to each new vehicle model and the fourth one is an advertisement that shows off all three. One of these is the one entitled “Tunnel” wherein you will see a Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle zooming through a road on a mountain and enters a tunnel. What would catch your attention would be the voiceover that says, “Are our cars as much fun as our bikes?” And after that long dark tunnel, the next thing you would see would be a Suzuki SX4 which then enters another tunnel which exits the tunnel as a Grand Vitara. The same thing happens and you would find a Suzuki XL7 in the end.

The Suzuki Motor Corporation has been in business since 1909 and its headquarters is located in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. The current CEO is Osamu Suzuki and the current COO is Hiroshi Tsuda. The company’s main source of revenue comes from the manufacturing of motor vehicles and light trucks. The company also manufactures motorcycle and outboard motors. Suzuki Motor Corporation has a revenue close to $20 billion. There are currently 45,000 employees within the corporation. Their website is located at http://globalsuzuki.com. Suzuki has become the 12th largest automobile manufacturer in the world today based off of production volume. The Suzuki Motor Corporation has become so large that it has 35 production facilities in 23 countries and 133 distributors in 192 countries worldwide.

The company was originally founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki as the Suzuki Loom Company that manufactured weaving looms for Japan’s silk industry. For the first 30 years of the company’s existence, the manufacturing was focused on the development of these looms and their distribution worldwide. Michio Suzuki also filed as many as 120 patents of different products during his time with the company. The company’s first motor vehicle was manufactured and distributed to the public in 1955. It was called the ‘Suzulight’ and was a lightweight car as evidenced by its name.

Before the company began manufacturing motor vehicles they began manufacturing motorcycles. Their first motorcycle came off the assembly line in 1952 and was more or less a motorized bicycle. Their motorcycles became more popular throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Aside from manufacturing motorcycles, Suzuki Motor Corporation also races their bikes. The company won the 2000 MotoGP title and since 2006 the company has been sponsored by Rizla and has been known as the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP Team.

The company as a vehicle manufacturer took off after that. They then began manufacturing trucks, other compact cars, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and much more. Suzuki has also manufactured vehicles for other major motor vehicle manufacturing companies. Those companies are General Motors, Subaru, Mazda, Nissan and Maruti Suzuki. Aside from the motor vehicles, Suzuki has had major success in the production of ATVs and motorcycles.

Suzuki’s ATVs are as follows:

Utility Sport

•Suzuki KingQuad 700

•Suzuki TwinPeaks 700

•Suzuki Vinson 500

•Suzuki Eiger 400

•Suzuki Ozark 250

Sport

•Suzuki LT 230

•Suzuki LT 250

•Suzuki LT-R450 (race ready)

•Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak version (rally/road)

•Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak version (rally/road)

The Suzuki Motor Corporation also fields a Suzuki World Rally Team. The team is backed by the factory and competes in motor vehicle races across the world. It is fairly brand new. It debuted in 2007 as a competitor in the Rallye de France. The team has competed in only a few races in 2007 and 2008 and will add a couple more races to its docket in 2009.

The Suzuki Motor Corporation has been producing and distributing quality motor vehicles, motorcycles, outboard engines, ATVs and light trucks since the early 1900s and continue to climb the ladder of most productive automotive manufacturing companies in the world today.
